In order to provide personalized and targeted ads, we learn the user profile. This is a reason we need Background location services being enabled.
Raw location data never leaves the user's phone, and only anonymized aggregated metrics are consumed by our ADS server.
In order to reduce battery draining, the application doesn't register itself for location updates, but rather receives CLRegion and CLVisit updates.
This approach is recommended by Apple Location Services Documentation.
